Konami recently announced the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, a compilation of early Yu-Gi-Oh! video games to be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the card game. The collection will include Japan-only titles with English translations for the first time, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelist and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6 Expert 2. The latter previously saw an English release for the Game Boy Advance as Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel. The games will feature story modes set during the Battle City arc of the original anime and manga series. More titles are planned for the collection, with a mix of games never released in English before and fan-favorites. This collection represents a look back at an older era of the trading card game, complete with classic cards and stories inspired by the anime of the time. A full list of included games and a release date will be announced in the future. This release marks a departure from Konami’s current strategy of free-to-play card game adaptations and interpretations, such as Duel Links and Master Duel.
