Disney Lorcana’s online website experienced a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, causing significant disruptions to the launch of its second set, Rise of the Floodborn. The attack resulted in digital queues, website errors, and other issues for players attempting to purchase cards. Publisher Ravensburger eventually ended website sales due to the attack. The attack was likely due to an overwhelming number of bots and automated purchasing scripts attempting to buy up the product. This has led to a limited stock and inflated prices for Lorcana cards, impacting local hobby shops as well. The attack affected players who relied on direct sales through the website to purchase cards at the recommended price. Ravensburger has not confirmed whether it will reimburse those affected by the attack or when it will resume selling Disney Lorcana through its website. The publisher has promised to reprint The First Chapter for the US, leaving Europe and the UK with limited availability of the cards. The attack has caused frustration for players and uncertainty about the future availability of the cards.
