Wizards of the Coast recently announced the closure of their Magic the Gathering-themed digital card game, Magic Spellslingers. To compensate disappointed fans, the company is offering 1,500 free MTG Arena gems to anyone with a Spellslingers account created before March 6. To claim the gems, players must link their Spellslingers and Arena accounts, log in to MTG Arena before March 25, and the gems will be added after March 29. The closure of Spellslingers’ cash shop has already occurred, and the servers will shut down on June 4. The game struggled to compete in the digital card game market, with only 1101 peak players on Steam and mixed reviews. Spellslingers gameplay is more similar to Hearthstone than traditional Magic the Gathering, which may have contributed to its lack of success. Despite the closure, fans can still enjoy Magic the Gathering on other digital platforms. For more Magic the Gathering news, follow Wargamer on Google News.
