Pokemon Day is celebrated annually on February 27th to commemorate the launch of the original Game Boy Pokemon games in Japan in 1996. The first games released were Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green in Japan, which later became Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue in the West in 1998. European players had to wait until 1999 to officially get their hands on the games. In 2024, a promo card for the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) called Ceruledge is being released as part of the celebrations.
The Ceruledge card can be obtained by adding it to any order on PokemonCenter.com using the code pday2024 at checkout in the US and UK. In Canada, the card is available at the Pokemon Center and Toys R Us with a minimum purchase requirement. The card is not only a collector’s item but also effective in the Pokemon TCG, with the ability to heal itself and deal damage to Pokemon V and Pokemon ex cards. Other Pokemon Day events and promos are also taking place worldwide, including tournaments and special giveaways.
