Three rare and valuable Pokémon cards, featuring first-generation starter Pokémon Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander, have recently broken sales records at auction. These cards, dating back to 1999, were awarded to winners of photo contests held in Japan that year. The Squirtle card, one of only 15 copies, sold for $73,200 and was rated as being in Near-Mint 7 condition, making it the highest graded copy of the card recorded by PSA to date. The Charmander card, also one of only 15 copies, sold for $79,300 and is one of just two known copies recorded by the company. The Bulbasaur card, one of only three copies to resurface, sold for $80,520 and is graded at Mint 9 by PSA. These sales set new records for the cards, with the Bulbasaur card being named for being the very first card in the Pokémon card game’s earliest Base Set. The rarity and condition of these cards make them highly sought-after and valuable collectibles for Pokémon enthusiasts and collectors.
