The Van Gogh Pikachu card, a result of the collaboration between Pokémon and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, will be available once again after facing overwhelming demand and chaotic scenes. The card, officially named Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, is part of the Pokémon x Van Gogh exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the museum. It transforms the Pokémon mascot into the style of Van Gogh’s iconic self-portrait from 1887. The card was initially designed as a fun promo for children attending the exhibit, but within hours, adults were seen cleaning out the limited-edition merchandise and promo cards. Copies of the card soon appeared for sale on sites like eBay for hundreds or even thousands of pounds. The card sold out by September 29th, prompting The Pokémon Company to apologize for the overwhelming demand and promise to offer more copies soon. Now, the company has confirmed the return of Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, which will be available through the online Pokémon Center store to customers in the US and Canada who order at least $30 worth of Pokémon TCG products. Only one copy of the card will be included with each eligible order, and supplies will be limited. Given the card’s previous popularity, interested customers are advised to act quickly.
