The Pokémon Trading Card Game is reportedly re-offering the promotional Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat card at local game stores in the Netherlands after scalpers depleted stock during a collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum. Limited quantities of the card will be distributed to local game stores, with players who spend more than €30 on Pokémon TCG products receiving one of 100 copies of the limited print card sent to each store. The Van Gogh museum stopped offering Pokémon TCG cards due to scalpers and opportunistic collectors clearing out the gift shop, leaving no cards for families who had booked tickets in advance. The card and related merchandise soon appeared on resellers at inflated values. The Pokémon Company International claimed they would offer Netherlands retailers another method of offering the promotional card, but the limited restock will allegedly be limited to local game stores within the Netherlands. The company has yet to release an official announcement regarding the Van Gogh promotional card’s return. This news comes after the initial rush on the cards and subsequent resale at inflated prices, leaving many fans disappointed and hoping for a wider print run that would lower the price within third-party markets and give the rest of the world a chance at the special collectible.
