Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming set, Lost Caverns of Ixalan, is facing production issues that will cause a delay in the release of collector boosters and preconstructed commander decks. Publisher Wizards of the Coast announced the delay on their website, citing “production issues” as the cause. The collector boosters, which are the premium option among the game’s booster types, will not be available in time for the prerelease weekend on November 10th. Wizards of the Coast expects the collector boosters to arrive during the week after the prerelease and up to three weeks thereafter.
Additionally, players in the US can expect limited availability of the four preconstructed commander decks at launch until November 17th. These decks highlight four key factions in the set and are highly sought after by players.
Lost Caverns of Ixalan will be the last set to print both draft and set boosters. In the future, MTG plans to combine the two options into a unified product called Play Boosters, which will cater to both limited format players and non-competitive players looking for collectability options.
Despite the production issues, Lost Caverns of Ixalan is generating excitement among players, with its mechanics and Jurassic Park crossover cards featuring iconic characters such as Dr. Ian Malcolm. More information about the set can be found on Dicebreaker.
