Wizards of the Coast has announced a new MTG Arena format called ‘Timeless’ which will be a new Constructed format where all cards on Magic: The Gathering Arena are playable. The new format will launch on December 12 and will allow players to use any digital card available on Arena. Instead of a banlist, the format will have a ‘restricted’ list where only one copy of a card can be used in a deck and sideboard. Three cards have already been added to the Timeless restricted list ahead of its release. The format will also use rebalanced versions of all digital-only Magic cards and the original printings of non-digital cards. The move was driven by engagement and support during the Historic No Banned List and Historic Basically No Bans events. Timeless will release at the same time as Khans of Tarkir on MTG Arena and will have ranked and play queues available upon release. Promotions and events to celebrate the new format will also be available, including a new-to-Arena card and a Timeless Metagame Challenge. Fetch lands from Khans of Tarkir will be pre-banned in Historic, but they’ll be playable in Timeless.
