The upcoming Magic: The Gathering trading card game set, Murders at Karlov Manor, introduces a suite of investigative tools for players to collect evidence, unmask potential killers, and hide their cards in plain sight. The set is the first to use the unified Play Booster and introduces three interconnected mechanics themed around hiding and sleuthing. The city of Ravnica is suffering from a series of murders, leading to a war between two guilds and the need for the Ravnican Agency of Magicological Investigations to solve the crimes.

The set includes returning mechanics such as Investigate, which creates Clue tokens, as well as new mechanics like Disguise and Cloak, which allow cards to be played face down and then turned face up at any time. Suspects, Evidence, and Cases are also introduced as new mechanics in the set, adding complexity and strategy to the game. The set will hold prerelease events at local game stores starting February 2nd, ahead of the wider release on February 9th. The article also provides a beginner’s guide to the rules and deck-building for Magic: The Gathering.
