The upcoming Magic: The Gathering set Outlaws of Thunder Junction will introduce a new mini-game for Commander called Bounties. Similar to Planechase, this system will add variety and unpredictability to games by offering optional missions for players to complete. Bounties are represented by a separate deck of cards with escalating rewards based on how long they remain unfulfilled. Players can compete to complete these Bounties for rewards such as treasure tokens and card draws. To play with Bounties, players will need to set up a deck with 6-12 Bounty cards, with a new Bounty revealed each turn after one is claimed. Wizards recommends playing with twelve Bounty cards for more unpredictable gameplay. It is not yet clear how players will obtain Bounty cards, but they may be included in Thunder Junction Commander decks or packs. Overall, the introduction of Bounties in Outlaws of Thunder Junction is expected to add an interesting new element to Commander gameplay.
