Wizards of the Coast’s new mechanic, Discover, has caused significant disruption in multiple Magic: The Gathering formats. The mechanic has led to the emergence of two new combo decks in Pioneer, capable of consistently killing on turns 3-5. In Historic, the combo is even deadlier, with Pantlaza, Sun-Favored being a viable card. As a result, cards that fuel the combo and those that counter it have spiked in price. Trumpeting Carnosaur, a key card in the combo, has seen a significant increase in price, as has Quintorius Kand, another combo card. Tishana’s Tidebinder, a card that can counter the Discover menace, has also seen a massive spike in price. Ripples of Potential, a card with potential in Commander format, has seen a rise in prices as well. Roaming Throne, a card that supports triggered abilities, has also increased in price. Additionally, Jurassic World cards, particularly Hunting Velociraptor and Ravenous Tyrannosaurus, continue to maintain high prices. Overall, the introduction of the Discover mechanic has caused significant financial shifts in the Magic: The Gathering market.
