MTG Arena is introducing a new format called Timeless, similar to Vintage, where every card is legal with a three-card Restricted List. The release of Khans of Tarkir on MTG Arena will bring Fetch Lands and Delve cards to the format, potentially reinventing the meta. Deathrite Shaman, Tainted Pact, and Treasure Cruise are expected to be powerful cards in the Timeless format. Deathrite Shaman, previously banned in Modern and Legacy, will become a mono-black ramp engine with the introduction of Fetch Lands. Tainted Pact, when combined with Thassa’s Oracle, can create a powerful combo win. Treasure Cruise, banned in Modern, Legacy, and restricted in Vintage, is expected to be a dominant card in the format, especially in UR Delver decks. Combo decks are expected to be successful in the Timeless format due to the absence of strong counterspells. Best-of-three games may provide more competitive matchups due to the lack of sideboarding for counterplay in best-of-one games. Overall, Timeless is expected to be a format with a wide range of powerful and format-warping cards, with combo decks likely to be successful.
