The Lost Caverns of Ixalan has not brought massive change to the Standard metagame, as midrange and multi-color ramp decks still dominate. The new cards from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan are being used as upgrades for existing archetypes rather than sparking innovation. However, one player in a recent Magic Online event had success with a unique Simic Artifacts deck, largely made possible by the emergence of a new Ensoul Artifact variant in Standard.

The new Lost Caverns of Ixalan card Zoetic Glyph provides a big reward for an Artifact-focused gameplan, offering a bonus when the Enchanted Artifact is put into the graveyard. The deck creates non-Creature Artifacts, such as Map tokens, which are excellent targets for Zoetic Glyph. The deck also includes Creatures that create Artifact tokens, such as Spyglass Siren, Tough Cookie, and Sentinel of the Nameless City.

The deck has a decent chance against Esper midrange and multi-color ramp decks, as its threats are strong against removal and can be effective in applying early pressure and interaction. However, the strategy is not foolproof and can struggle against certain cards and decks. Overall, the Simic Artifact aggro strategy offers a unique and effective option for players looking to try something different in the Standard metagame.
