Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming Secret Lair drop, Sheldon’s Spellbook, will pay tribute to the creator of the Commander format, Sheldon Menery, who passed away last year. The limited-edition cards will be released later this month to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The set will feature variants of existing cards centered around Commander and will include references and tributes to Menery and his favored decks. The cards will include quotes from Menery as flavor text and reprints of specific cards that Menery was fond of. The set will also include a reimagining of the legendary creature Ruhan of the Fomori as Sheldon, the Commander, featuring Menery’s likeness. The Secret Lair will be available for pre-order from February 26th to March 24th and will not be limited to a set number of orders. This release is a way for Magic: The Gathering to honor the legacy of Sheldon Menery and raise money for a good cause.
