American rapper Post Malone has once again made headlines in the gaming world by purchasing a one-of-a-kind Magic: The Gathering card called “The One Ring,” potentially for a staggering $2 million. Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic “Lord of the Rings,” the card was sold to Malone by TikTok user Brook Trafton, who discovered the mint-condition card and had it authenticated by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA).
Last year, Malone spent $800,000 on a rare Black Lotus card, which was then the most expensive card ever purchased in the history of the game. This new acquisition appears to top that record. Trafton, who has been a Magic fan since childhood, said selling the card was life-changing but hoped it would go to someone who would value it as much as he did.
The new card’s addition to Malone’s collection underlines his serious enthusiasm for the Magic: The Gathering game. He even had a card named in his honor, “Post the Enchanter,” released in 2021 by Wizards of the Coast, the creators of the game. Trafton expressed immense gratitude toward Malone, calling the sale a “dream come true.”
