Wizards of the Coast has released nearly 2,000 new MTG cards in 2023, but it is rare for them to introduce a new Card Type or Spell Type. However, in 2023, they have introduced a new Card Type called Battles and a new Spell Type called Chorus. Battles were introduced in the March of the Machine set, offering new mechanical possibilities and Tarmogoyf fuel. Chorus is the fifth Spell Type to be released and is exclusive to the Alchemy: Ixalan set, which is set to be released on December 5th. Chorus spells can increase the Intensity of other Chorus cards, allowing for deeper synergy and potentially devastating results. While Chorus is currently only available on MTG Arena, there is a possibility that it could make its way to paper play in the future. The release of the Alchemy: Ixalan set is expected to reveal more Chorus cards, and players are hopeful that these cards will create compelling decks with progressively more value from cheap spells.
