Wizards of the Coast has announced the Secret Lair Showdown MTG cards for 2024, which are prize cards with unique artwork that will be awarded to tournament participants at four MagicCons. There will be one card given to all participants, another for those who make it through the qualifier events, and a final card for the winners. These rare MTG Secret Lair cards will be given out at events throughout 2024, starting with MagicCon Chicago in February. The participant award is a copy of the MTG counter spell Spell Pierce, the qualifier award is a copy of Murktide Regent, and the prize card for tournament winners is a unique copy of Dark Ritual. The format chosen for the Secret Lair Showdown is Modern, but the selection of prize cards includes cards that are Standard legal and EDH cards. The unique artwork on these prize cards has been noted, but it has been mentioned that none of the art is as cute as the kitty cat Jace Beleren that pro tour qualifiers will receive next year.
